Place the sugar in a glass and add the Angostura bitters. Gently muddle the mixture until the sugar is fully dissolved.
Add the Maestror rum and fill the glass with ice. Stir gently with a bar spoon until the drink is well chilled and the ingredients are fully combined.
Take an orange peel, express its oils over the surface of the drink, and drop it in as a garnish. Serve immediately while cold. Enjoy!
